Terms of use
Last updated: 4 November 2026
These terms cover the Typein website, the Typein app for Mac, the Typein extension for Chrome, Typein accounts at account.usetypein.com, and plans and word packs. By downloading or using Typein you agree to them. Nothing here affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
1. What Typein is
Typein for Mac models how existing text is typed, previews it, exports it as a document or video, and with Live Typing types it into a Microsoft Word, Pages or TextEdit document using real key presses. It needs a Mac with Apple silicon and macOS 26 or later, and the macOS Accessibility and Input Monitoring permissions for Live Typing. The website shows prepared demonstrations only.
Typein for Chrome types the same way into the web page field you choose, using real key presses. It needs Google Chrome 125 or later, and while it types Chrome shows that the extension is debugging that tab.
2. Your account
You need a Typein account to use plans and word packs. Keep your password safe; you are responsible for activity under your account. One account is for one person. You can sign out of a Mac from the app or from your account page.
3. What is free and what is paid
Writing, generating and previewing typing simulations, and exporting, are free. Live Typing into other apps or web pages needs an active plan or word-pack words; for now, typing with Typein for Chrome needs a plan, as word packs work only in Typein for Mac. The Pricing page lists each plan and word pack, its device limit, offline use and how words are counted.
4. Buying a code
Plans and word packs are currently sold as redeem codes on Goofish. You pay on Goofish, and the Goofish listing and Goofish's rules govern that payment, its price, delivery of the code and any refund. You redeem the code in your Typein web account; the plan or words are then added to that account. A code can be redeemed once. Keep it private until you redeem it.
5. Your licence
When your account has a plan or words, we grant you a personal, non-transferable licence to use Typein for Mac and Typein for Chrome on up to the number of devices your plan allows, as listed on the Pricing page; each Mac and each Chrome browser counts as one device. A lifetime plan has no end date for as long as Typein is offered. Word packs are used up as Live Typing types your text and do not expire.
Typein checks your plan with our server. Live Typing keeps working without a connection for up to 24 hours after the last successful check. You may not share an account to get around device limits, resell or sublicense Typein, or try to bypass licence checks.
6. Refunds
Payments for codes are made on Goofish. Refund requests for a code that has not been redeemed are handled under the Goofish listing and Goofish's rules. Once a code is redeemed, the plan or words are delivered to your account straight away, so it cannot be cancelled simply because you have changed your mind. This does not affect your rights if Typein is faulty or not as described: contact support@usetypein.com and we will repair, replace or refund as the law requires. If a payment is refunded or reversed, the plan or words from that code are removed from your account.
7. Using Typein responsibly
Use only text you have the right to use. Typing simulations are meant for demonstrations, recordings, tutorials, testing and personal workflows. They do not establish authorship, and you must not use Typein to mislead anyone about who wrote something or how it was written, including in coursework, exams or assessments where that is not allowed.
8. Your documents
Your text and documents stay on your Mac. Keep your own copies of important work. Live Typing types into the document you choose; check the result before you rely on it.
9. Changes and availability
We may update Typein and these terms. We will tell you about significant changes on this page or in the app before they take effect. We may suspend an account that breaks these terms, after telling you why where we can. If we stop offering Typein for Mac, we will give at least 30 days' notice.
10. Our responsibility
We are responsible for loss you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for loss that was not foreseeable, for business losses, or for problems caused by other apps, your Mac or your network. Nothing here limits liability where the law does not allow it.
11. Contact and law
Questions, refunds and support: support@usetypein.com. These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. If you live elsewhere in the UK or in another country, you keep any protection the law where you live gives you.
